on my wishlist

This outfit.
Is there really much more to say? I designed this set on Polyvore in my spare time yesterday, and I just think it's the most perfect thing. The Madewell Sodashop Dress is to die for! I tried it on during my fit session the other day and absolutely fell in love. It features a very sweet, vintage looking peter pan collar, POCKETS, and a band that falls around the natural waist. Also, if you're a city dweller like me and get nervous about the cream, it's available in black!

I think it would be absolutely ADORABLE paired with these polka dot over-the-knee socks, also from Madewell. Their versatile enough to go with either colour dress, which I love! The boots featured are these Deena and Ozzy Ankle Boots, available for purchase at Urban Outfitters.
(The outfit would also be cute with plain black over the knee socks and Bass Saddle Shoes)

All inspired by the ever-adorable Tennessee Thomas, drummer for the all girl band The Like. Tennessee is quite the socialite, being best friends with Alexa Chung, and hanging with the likes of Nick Grimshaw and Matthew Hitt. Her personal style is adorably 60's; saddle shoes, shift dresses, patterned tights, and collars galore! Definitely a style inspiration.

Little Changes

Upon returning home from the UK for the summer, I decided it was time for some (not so) big changes, starting with my bedroom. I LOVE my room; it's where I spend the majority of my day and it makes me feel good, but it always seems SO cluttered and tiny :(

I first decided to remove my desk, as I'm no longer in high school and don't need a place in this bedroom to do any sort of homework. I filled the empty space left from my desk with this chair from (of all places) Overstock, and a vintage side table I picked up at Country Roads Antique Mall in Orange.

For now I'm filling the table space with a reading lamp, picture, and some books, but in just a few days time I'm going to replace those with a vintage record player, the one I bought my brother as the kick starter to his vinyl collection.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with the way my room is looking, and this chair is SUPER comfortable (sitting in it as this is written!) The base is large enough for me to sit cross-legged on, which is a massive plus, and it came with a cute pillow!

I also removed my previous wall decorations (which we're a bit tacky) and hung new ones, all of which I find to be very interesting! The mirror was gifted from my mother, I believe, though I don't quite remember how it made it's way into my room!~ The cardboard elephant I bought for my Uni room in halls last year, but decided to take it apart for the journey to California and reassemble it here! So glad I did…I think it's such an interesting thing! The crochet doilies were purchased at Lutheran Thrift Store, only 45 cents for 6 of 'em, so I couldn't pass the offer up. The ship print was only $1.25 at Salvation Army, and is such a beautiful piece.

And there we are, corner nearly finished and a much, MUCH more open feeling room! If only I could manage to chuck out more things I don't need~!

Catalina.

I've been seriously neglecting this blog! I've spent lots of time at work, on vacation, and reading through HTML coding sites to try and sort this all out! My apologies.

My best friend Mady and I spent Tuesday, 10/7/2012 to Thursday, 12/7/2012 in a tent at Two Harbours campground. The word "fun" doesn't hold enough description for the trip…it was incredible. We spent time in the ocean, snorkelling, dancing, kayaking, and eating LOTS of s'mores (unfortunately, the foxes and birds got to the rest of our food)

The trip resulted in smelling like campfire at least 3 days later, grease caked hair, and (sadly) 2nd degree sunburns! I've had a trip to the ER and everything is fine, just need better protection next time :)
